Types of U.S. Presidential Political Ads to Expect in 2020

We should expect different types of presidential campaigns this year. Some of them might be those that were used from the past. Some will be mostly aimed at the current events of the past year, surrounding issues like COVID-19 or Black Lives Matter. Keep reading to learn about the types of U.S. presidential political ads we might expect in 2020.

What is a Political Campaign Ad?

First of all, a political campaign ad is an effort that is organized to affect the decision making progress among a political group. An ad is created to help the party do just that. In democracies like in the U.S., campaign ads promote candidates for elections. In modern politics, high profile campaigns are focused on elections and the candidates for the presidency.

Examples of Presidential Political Ads

A presidential political ad contains ideas that the presidential candidate wants to let potential voters know. It is to get people that agree with their ideas to support them while they run for a presidential race. This type of ad consists of different points about issues relating to the policies of the nation. These points arrange the main ideas of the campaign to create a huge impression with the voters.

In a lot of elections, the party opposing would try to catch the candidate off guard by asking personal questions or discussing a policy that is not related in any way to their stated points. Most campaigns prefer to keep the message broader to get the highest number of voters.

A narrow message can easily get rid of voters – like the political ad that was used in the 2008 American presidential election where John McCain made use of a message that focused on how he was a patriot and about his political experience. Later in the message, the attention shifted to how he acted as “The Original Maverick” through the political arrangement. Even President Barack Obama ran on a consistent, simple message of change all through his campaign.

Even if the presidential political ad is crafted with care, it doesn’t assure that the specific candidate will be successful at the polls.

Different presidential political campaign ads are made thanks to money collected from fundraising. These force the candidate to meet or call upon huge donors and interest groups that can help in providing the necessary funds that are necessary for ensuring victory at the polls.

Organization of Presidential Political Ads Campaign

John Edwards, a Democrat, made a campaign speech in Pittsburgh in the year 2007. His campaign team considered how to send a message and to get volunteers for his campaign and to also raise money. The campaign ads used techniques from advertisements done commercially and propaganda mixing public relations and entertainment styles.

These avenues are also available to the presidential political campaigns we could experience in 2020. It will be interesting to see what issues the presidential political ads focus on this year – especially when it comes to the U.S. presidential election.
